Current Fire Situation: Yesterday crews completed dozer lines on the east flank of the Eagle fire, and began burn out operations along the fire line near Junction City. Ten smoke jumpers were assigned to the Buckhorn fire, and an additional eight smoke jumpers will be assigned to the Carey fire in the Trinity Alps Wilderness today. Winds remained calm over the fire areas last night, with no significant movement on any of the fires within the complex. A Red Flag Warning has been issued for the fire area today from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. due to expected low humidities and strong southwest winds.

Main Objectives Today: Eagle: Crews will continue burnout operations along the newly established dozer line to the east of the fire adjacent to the community of Junction City. This operation will remove fuels that exist between the containment lines and the main fire, preventing further eastern spread of the Eagle fire. Cedar: Crews will continue holding established containment lines, and patrol the Highway 299 corridor and area east of Del Loma for spot fires. Buckhorn Fire: Continue holding established fire lines along the southwest side of the fire and initiate line construction along the east flank with smoke jumpers. Zeigler: Crews will continue to mop up hot spots inside the fire perimeter. Ironside Fire: Monitor the unburned areas between the Zeigler and Ironside fires north of Highway 299 and continue mop up activities to ensure no hot spots remain adjacent to the fire perimeter. Carey Fire: One additional crew of smoke jumpers will be inserted into the Carey fire to construct fire line.

Area Closures: The Shasta-Trinity National Forest has issued an area closure for the Cedar Fire. A map and specific description of the closure is posted on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest webpage: www.fs.fed.us/r5/shastatrinity. County Road 402 (Denny Road) has been reopened. Forest Road 60 remains closed from Hyampom to Burnt Ranch. Evacuations: On Thursday, July 17, the Trinity County Sheriff's Department issued a mandatory evacuation of portions of the Junction City area including Red Hill Road, Dutch Creek, Coopers Bar, Evans Bar and Soldiers Creek. This evacuation was issued due to the limited ingress/egress in the area and the planned increase in fire operations during the next several days. For a complete list of current evacuation notices please refer to the Trinity Country webpage at http://www.trinitycounty.org/ or call (530) 623-4708. Additional Fire Information: A recorded line for the Iron Complex is available at (530) 226-2500, press 2. For specific inquiries contact the Fire Information Center at (530) 226-2368. Information is available online at www.fs.fed.us/r5/shastatrinity or http://www.inciweb.org/.
