Incident: Iron Alps Complex Wildfire

The fires on the Iron Complex are being managed by Paul Broyles' Type I National Incident Management Team. Fire Acres ContainmentCedar Fire 8,897 4% Eagle Fire 10,685 50% Zeigler Fire 1,977 90% Buckhorn Fire 6,429 30% Ironside Fire 12,687 90%Denny Fire 43 85% Within the Trinity Alps Wilderness Area (approximately 20 other fires of between 1 to 83 acres each have been contained). Granite Fire 542 80% Carey Fire 1,070 30% Rip Fire 3 70% Active fire behavior is expected today with potential for short duration surface spread combined with
single and group tree torching and long range spotting. Extremely steep and broken terrain limits
checking growth on all fires within the complex. The potential for undetected spot fires to develop is high.

Planned Actions: Cedar Fire: Construct indirect line on the south side to protect Corral Bottom and
high-voltage transmission line. Continue constructing, improving and holding the west flank. Patrol for
spot fires north of Hwy 299. Eagle Fire: Construct and burnout indirect line on the east side of the fire
from Big Creek to Hocker Meadow. Zeigler Fire: Protect Gray's Ranch and Fisher Ranch.
Buckhorn Fire: Use burnout to hold fire at French Creek and continue burnout on the west side as needed.
Ironside Fire: Mop up line from Bell Ranch to DP-40. Denny Fire: Construct direct line, fell snags and mop up
hot spots

The Granite, Carey and Rip fires in the Trinity Alps Wilderness Area are being managed as a separate branch
and under wilderness management guidelines. Carey Fire: Continue to extinguish hot spots and mop up along
perimeter. Granite Fire: Unstaffed. Fire has been placed in monitor status. Rip Fire: Fire has been placed in
monitor status after suppression actions.

Hwy 299 is open, but subject to periodic closure from fire activity. Please call Cal Trans at
1-800-427-7623 for the most current road conditions.

Closures: To protect public safety and to facilitate fire suppression efforts, the Shasta-Trinity National Forest has
issued an area closure for the Cedar Fire. The closure area is defined by Forest Roads 16, 47, and 60. A map and
specific description of the closure is posted on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest webpage: www.fs.fed.us/r5/shastatrinity.
County Road 402 (Denny Road) is open to resident and firefighter traffic only.Evacuations: For a list of current evacuations notices please refer to the Trinity County webpage at www.trinitycounty.orgHealth Advisories: Smoky conditions and low visibility continue throughout the area. Persons with asthma or other
respiratory conditions should avoid strenuous outdoor exercise or activity. Fire Information: Current information can be obtained by calling the Iron Complex Fire Information phone line at
(530) 623-6415 between the 8:00 am and 9:00 pm.A recorded line for the public with current information about the fire situation is available by calling (530) 226-2500
and pressing 2 for fire information. The line is updated daily or as new information becomes available. Information
