Planned Actions: The Onion fire is in patrol status. Firefighters will hold burnout lines and mop-up containment lines along the eastern and southern flank of the Cub fire. Highway 32 will be closed today to complete burnout operations and begin fire suppression rehabilitation. Crews will fall and remove burned hazard trees and chip debris along Highway 32. Two fire suppression rehabilitation groups will focus on completing the work along Highway 32 and the Cub fire southern contingency lines.
Evacuations and Closures: Due to controlled burnout operations, State Highway 32 is temporarily closed from the junction of Highway 36, south towards Chico through Deer Creek Canyon. Fire managers and Caltrans will be evaluating the closure status for tonight and tomorrow. Call Caltrans at 1-800-427-ROAD for the latest information.
