Important News: Containment of the 5 acre slop over in Division B is now complete.

The fire continues to deepen containment lines as it burns interior fuels with moderate fire behavior.

Current Fire Situation: Fire behavior is increasing as indices rise with the upcoming peak of the fire season. The mosaic nature of the burn has created a high potential for large areas of internal burning.

The weather forecast is calling for a slight chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

Today's Objectives: Crews will continue to contain, mop up and patrol the fire. Aerial infra red flights will assist firefighters in the location of any new hot spots or spot fires. Fire managers will maintain the availability of initial attack resources for contingency forces.

Fire line repair work will begin today near the Rat Trap area of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. A spike camp will be utilized at the Rat Trap to keep equipment and crews close to the repair operation. Please be aware that this area is closed to public use to facilitate the firefighting and repair effort.

Structures and Resources Threatened: The structural protection of private holdings near Henthorne Lake and the Forest Service historic buildings has been completed.

Area Closures: Hunters are reminded that the Yolla Bolly-Middle Eel Wilderness is closed to public access due to the fire. In addition the Jones Ridge area south east of Ruth is also closed. Area closures are also in effect for the Shasta-Trinity National Forest lands where the fire is burning. Specifically the Rat Trap area (Forest Road 45) is closed to public access. For more information on Forest road closures, contact the respective national forests listed in this update's letterhead.

Additional Fire Information: The Yolla Bolly Incident Information Center is located at the Ruth Fire Camp and will be in operation from 8 AM to 8 PM. The Incident Information phone number is 866-751-0788. Summary information, photos, and maps of the incident will continue to be available online at http://www.inciweb.org/.
