Incident: Basin Complex Wildfire

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(a) and (b), and to protect public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Los Padres National Forest. This order is effective from 5:00 p.m. on June 23,2008, until the Basin Complex Fire has been fully controlled.
- Going into or being upon National Forest System lands within the Basin Complex Fire
Closure Area. The Basin Complex Fire Closure Area begins at the point where the
Central Coast Ridge Road (Forest Road No. 20S05) intersects with Nacimiento
Fergusson Road (County Road No. 4004), then west along the north side of Nacimiento
Fergusson Road to its intersection with State Highway 1, then north along the east side of Highway 1 to its intersection with the Los Padres National Forest boundary, then north following the Los Padres National Forest boundary to its intersection with Cooper Point, then following the National Forest boundary north and east to its intersection with Arroyo Seco Road (Forest Road No.19S09), as shown on the attached Basin Complex Fire Closure Area Map (pdf 234kb). 36 CFR 261.52(e).
- Being on any National Forest System road within the Basin Complex Fire Closure Area.

- Being on any National Forest System trail within the Basin Complex Fire Closure Area.
36 CFR 261.55(a).
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this order:
- Persons with a permit from the Forest Service specifically authorizing the otherwise
prohibited act or omission. - Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting
force in the performance of an official duty.
These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.

A violation of this prohibition is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. 16 USC 551 and 18 USC 3559, 3571, and 3581.
