Tonight's projection is one of first real impacts of N winds since the
incident began. Please take caution as necessary and appropriate. Persons
should not work or exert themselves in the smoke, and persons with
compromised heart and lung conditions should remain indoors during heavy
smoke. Please be safe, particularly while driving.

...DENSE SMOKE ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM EDT WEDNESDAY...
THE DENSE SMOKE ADVISORY IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM EDT
WEDNESDAY.
NORTH WINDS WILL PUSH THE SMOKE PLUME FROM THE EVANS ROAD
WILDFIRE TO THE SOUTH OVERNIGHT. THIS WILL IMPACT THE
PONZER...SLADESVILLE AREAS. THE WINDS WILL BE LIGHT AND
VARIABLE AROUND THE FIRE AT TIMES OVERNIGHT WITH LITTLE DISPERSION
FURTHER SOUTH THAN THE PAMLICO RIVER. THE ASSOCIATED SMOKE WILL
REDUCE VISIBILITIES TO ONE QUARTER MILE AT TIMES. ALTHOUGH
VISIBILITIES WILL VARY GREATLY.
PORTIONS OF THE PAMLICO AND PUNGO RIVERS...AS WELL AS PORTIONS OF
THE INTERCOASTAL WATER WAY BETWEEN THE PUNGO AND ALLIGATOR RIVERS
COULD BE IMPACTED. WINDS FROM THE NORTH COULD ALSO BRING SMOKE
FROM THE FIRE ALONG THE VIRGINA AND NORTH CAROLINA BORDER INTO
WESTERN PORTIONS OF THE ALBEMARLE SOUND AS WELL...THOUGH
VISIBILITIES SHOULD REMAIN ABOVE 1 MILE.
PEOPLE WITH RESPIRATORY AILMENTS SHOULD REMAIN INDOORS DUE TO THE
WIDESPREAD SMOKE.
A DENSE SMOKE ADVISORY MEANS THAT A WILDFIRE WILL PRODUCE DENSE
SMOKE...WHICH WILL LEAD TO VERY POOR VISIBILITIES. IF DRIVING...
SLOW DOWN...USE YOUR HEADLIGHTS...AND LEAVE PLENTY OF DISTANCE
AHEAD OF YOU IN CASE A SUDDEN STOP IS NEEDED.
