Trigo Fire News Release

Trigo Fire Update 5.07.2008 10:00pm

Incident: Trigo Fire Wildfire
Released: 5/7/2008

High Winds Hinder Work

Winds were both a help and a hindrance today. Aircraft were grounded because of high wind conditions. "The wind and heat of the day tested our lines but they held up" said Buck Wickham, Operations Section Chief. He also said that rehab was continuing along the eastern edge of the fire.

Although sufficient forces will continue to work the fire some crews will be released as other incidents start requesting resources.

Today, in an unusual turn of events, the firefighters stationed at the Apple Valley Helibase were able to help with a medical emergency unrelated to the fire that occurred at the Apple Valley Camp. There was a 911 call to Torrance County Dispatch concerning a resident. An Emergency Medical Technician assigned to the fire and staged at the helibase responded and was able to render immediate assistance.
