Road and Area Restrictions Reduced on Cascade Comp
Incident: Cascade Complex Wildland Fire
Released: 9/21/2007
In response to decreased fire intensity, and with regard for safe public access, the Boise National Forest has announced a change in the Forest Road and Area Closure. Access to some areas that had been previously closed on the west side of the Cascade Ranger District is being reopened.
The Warm Lake Road is now open to the public from Hwy 55 at Cascade to near the Big Creek Summit area. Road Construction is underway so travelers can expect heavy truck traffic on that road. Forest 409 Road is also open to Railroad Pass.
A map of the new Area Closure will be posted on http://www.inciweb.org/, and www.fs.fed.us/idahofires, as soon as completed. Additional information is available at Cascade Fire Information (208) 382-3202, Cascade Ranger District (208) 382-7400.
To assist the residents of Yellow Pine and Johnson Creek that may be running low on LP gas and fuel oil, an escort for fuel delivery orders placed by residents will be established at the road block on Warm Lake Road at 10:00am and 2:00pm Friday, Sept. 21st and Saturday, Sept. 22nd.
Today's efforts will continue to focus on removal of hose and pumps before anticipated bad weather as well as reducing the resources along the Johnson Creek drainage and around the Yellow Pine community.
More than 580 firefighters continue to manage the 302,376 acre wildfire burning 27 miles east of Cascade, ID. The fire remains at 28% containment.
