Fire Emergency Area, Trail and Road Closure
PROHIBITIONS: Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (b), the following act is prohibited on the area, roads, and trails as described in this order, all within the Middle Fork Ranger District, Salmon-Challis National Forest until further notice:
·1. Going into or being upon the Fire Areas (as described below). 36 CFR 261.53(e)
·2. Being on a trail that is posted as closed (as described). 36 CFR 261.55(a)
·3. Being on a road that is posted as closed (as described). 36 CFR 261.54(e)
EXEMPTIONS: Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this order:
·1. Persons with a permit specifically exempting them from the effect of this Order.
·2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
AREA DESCRIBED:
The closed area begins at the junction of road #640 and trail #219 (Mull Hill Trailhead) (T18N, R10E, S30) then head south along trail #219 to the junction of trail #225 Indian Creek (T17N, R10E, S5). Continuing southeast on trail #225 to the junction with the Middle Fork River Corridor Administrative Boundary (generally ¼ mile from centerline of the river) (T17N, R11E, S34) then head southeast along the river corridor boundary (paralleling the river) to the junction of trail #232 Prospect Creek (T14N, R9E, S12). Continue northwest on trail #232 to the junction with trail #082 Morehead Mountain (T14N, R9E, S9). Then it continues northwest to the junction with road #550 Pistol Ridge (T15N, R9E, S29) then heads northwest along road #550 to the junction with road #447E (T15N, R8E, S2). Continuing along road #447E to the junction with trail #088 Summit Trail (15N, 8E, S2) continue north and west along trail #088 to its junction with road #640 (T18N, R9E, S32) and then northeast along road #640 to the beginning point at the Mule Hill Trailhead
The following trails are closed due to the Sandy and Riordan fires: Trail #219 Mule Hill, Trail #225 Indian Creek, Trail #226 Garden Creek, Trail #227 Big Baldy Ridge, Trail #228 Pistol Creek, Trail, #229 Little Pistol Creek, Trail #216 Forty-Four Creek, Trail #230 Shrapnel Creek, Trail #232 Prospect Creek, Trail #082 Morehead Mountain, Trail #088 Summit and Trail #224 Big Chief.
The following roads are closed due to the Sandy and Riordan fires: Road #550 Pistol Ridge, Road #540 Elkhorn Creek, Road #584 Cougar Mine and Road #547 Franklin D Mine.
The following trails are open: Trail #001 Middle Fork River.
The above-described area is within the proclaimed and administrative boundary of the Middle Fork Ranger District, Salmon-Challis National Forest, in Valley County, Idaho.
PURPOSE:
These closures are necessary to provide protection to forest visitors from the current fire safety hazards associated with the Sandy and Riordan Fires.
IMPLEMENTATION:
·1. This Order will be in effect when signed and shall remain in effect until further notice.
·2. A map identifying the closure area is attached and made part of this Order.
·3. Any violation of this prohibition is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000.00 for a individual or $10,000 for an organization, and/or imprisonment for not more than six (6) months. [Title 16 USC 551, Title 18 USC 3571 (b)(6), Title 18 USC 3581 (b)(7)].
·4. This Order supersedes any previous orders prohibiting the same acts covered by this Order in the above-described area.
