New Fire South of Council
Incident: East Zone Complex Wildland Fire

One of six lightning strikes Thursday afternoon started the Grey's Creek Fire, about 30 miles due south of Council. As of 7:30 last night, it was estimated at 2200 acres. Despite the rapid deployment of Forest Service firefighters, initial attack was unsuccessful . It's burning on BLM and private land, 2 miles east of Indian Valley and 15 miles north of Tamarack Resort, primarily in grass and sage. A type 2 team has been ordered to manage the fire. Three of Thursday's lightning strikes caused fires and the other two were contained by Forest Service personnel.
