Big Bar Mandatory Evacuation & Highway 299 Update

As of 3 p.m. the mandatory evacuation of homes in Big Bar north of Highway 299 remains in effect. Highway 299 which has been open via Caltrans pilot car escort is now closed due to rock debris and trees falling onto the highway. Caltrans, California Highway Patrol and the Iron-Alps Complex Incident Commander will continue to evaluate the situation on the Highway 299 corridor and resume traffic once the risk to motorists has deminished.
