Incident: Iron Alps Complex Wildland Fire

Highway 299 is under a modified closure due to fire activity near Big Bar. Traffic will be escorted by pilot vehicles between mileposts 30 and 25.5, subject to a thirty minute delay. Traffic may be subject to a "hard closure" allowing no traffic in either direction if fire activity warrants. Burn out operations to protect structures has gone well and is concluding.
Due to the presence of burning trees near power lines , power has been shut down from west of Weaverville (not including Weaverville) to Maple Creek and Hyampom. Power will be restored as soon as the threat to powerlines has subsided.
Telephone service is also temporarily interrupted to the area in and around Big Bar.
