Containment Target

The management strategy is to contain fire perimetrs where values at risk are high and point control in key areas within the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness. This strategy should be successful in holding the fire within identified WFSA boundaries. Due to the amount of time before the normal season ending event, the condition of the fuels, and the location of the fire within rugged, inaccessible terrian, this complex could be a long term event.Hicks fire in patrol. Wicked rehab

Remarks

209 will be modified when ther is significant change or for final. The WH Complex consists of two fires totalling 28,600 acres: the Wicked Creek Fire (26,100 acres)and the Hicks Park Fire (2500 acres). Cost Containment Factors: 1)Accountability: Line Officers are providing oversight to the strategic planning, and review the daily fire costs through participation in planning meetings. 2)Situational Awareness: Stressed attention to anticipated weather , and continued vigilance of suppression efforts. Awareness of LCES w/ given conditions. helicoopter was used for recon, crew shuttle. 3)Social/Political Factors: Information points are on 1 week updates or as needed,w/ additional hazard info for public using areas throughout weekend. Contact with Park, Sweet Grass, and Stillwater County officials continued with Kitchen's team. 4)Risk Management/Cost: A local Type 3 team is in place. Continuing to demob crews as appropriate. Work assignments based on predicted WX & fire behavior. 5)Strategic and Tactical Decisions: Two IHC crews are working spots and rehab, interior and west side of the Wicked Fire, supported by engines. Jumpers and other crews are coming off Hicks today. A Long Term Assessment was completed by the FUMT on August 29, and presented to the Forest and District Line Officers and fire managers to help inform future decisions and actions. We anticipate that neither fire will cross any Management Action Points (MAPs) within the next 72 hours. 50 ACRES on Bozeman Dispatch - Private (MT-BZCI) 28550 ACRES on Gallatin National Forest (MT-GNF) 50 ACRES on Bozeman Dispatch - Private (MT-BZCI) 28550 ACRES on Gallatin National Forest (MT-GNF) 50 ACRES on Bozeman Dispatch - Private (MT-BZCI) 28550 ACRES on Gallatin National Forest (MT-GNF)
