Summary

Late afternoon on August 5, 2007, a fire was reported about 4 miles west of Darby, Montana, up Tin Cup Creek. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Closures: The immediate fire area remains closed due to hazard trees that are weakened by the fire.

Visitors are reminded that fire restrictions are in effect. No campfires and no smoking (except in designated areas) are allowed.

Evacuations: All Stage 2 evacuation orders and Stage 1 pre-evacuation notices have been lifted. Any questions regarding evacuations, please call the Ravalli County OEM Department at 406-375-6650.

Sunday afternoon, Montana Governor Brian Schwietzer visited the Tin Cup Fire area and Fire Camp.

The management of the fire has transferred to a local type 3 organization.

Fire crews will patrol the fire area and continue to suppress and mop-up fire hot

spots within 300 feet of the fire perimeter. Fire suppression rehabilitation is also underway. Demobilization of resources has begun as the fire growth potential is low.
