Summary

Current Situation [October 15, 2007] The management of the Brush Creek Fire has successfully come to a close. The ICP/Base Camp, at the Tally Lake Ranger District, has been dismantled and all the individuals that came to help with the Fire have now gone home.

Approximately 110 miles of dozer line and hand line along with site specific points have been rehabbed within the fire area. Road work will resume at a later time. Crews will continue doing resource assessments in the fire area as weather permits.

THE BRUSH CREEK FIRE CLOSURE AREA IS STILL IN EFFECT.

A temporary road closure is still in effect in the vicinity of the Brush Creek Fire, due to concerns for public safety, of falling snags with in the fire area. The closure includes a portion of roads #60A and #2890 in the Good Creek area. Road #113 from where the pavement ends, at the junction of roads #2907 and #2908, also road #9502 in the Star Meadow area. Road #538 is open and #538B is open to Sylvia Lake, at the south portion of the fire perimeter. The Kootenai National Forest side is open to the Brush Creek Divide Only.

Fuels Involved

A mixture of fuel types are present from light grasses and dense saplings to old growth with heavy slash. Tree species include lodgepole pine, western larch, subalpine fir and spruce.
