Retardant drops were repeatedly on the first day of initial attack to assist the firefighters in their efforts. A medium helicopter also made bucket water drops to cool the spread of the fire. Late in the afternoon on the 13th, with the onset of higher winds and temperature, the fire began spotting approimately 1/4 mile ahead. The Central Oregon Incident Management Team was ordered and assumed operational management of the fire on June 15th. A Type III Incident Management Team assumed management of the fire on July 23.
