Summary

The Calamity Complex consists of five fires located 15-20 miles southeast of Seneca, Oregon.

As of July 16th, a type three fire organization led by Dennis Klein will manage the complex. Firefighters will be based out of Grant High School in John Day.

Mostly creeping, smoldering fire in the interior.

Significant Events

Crews continue to make use of the RAM IR interpretation with lat/long coordinates to extinguish the last remaining hot spots within 300' of the interior.

Outlook

Planned Actions

Continue with mop up on all fires in the complex. Continue suppression rehab on all but the containment lines located on the fire perimeter. Contiinue removing excess equipment off of all fires. Demobilize many of the remaining resources and dismantle ICP at the Seneca School and Bear Valley Meadows park.

Remarks

A Type 3 Incident Management Team led by Dennis Klein is scheduled to assume the responsibility for the suppression of this incident as of 0600 hours, July 16. The reduction in acres is a result of more accurate mapping. The fires in the complex were helicopter GPS-mapped. The sizes are as follows: Poison Fire, 1276 acres; Grapple Fire, 993 acres; 7176 Fire, 4 acres, 7162 Fire, 2 acres; and 7169 Fire, 1 acre. Total acreage of the Calamity Complex is 2276 acres.
