Two fires started in Cajon Pass Saturday 8/17 at about 5:20 pm. They were managed as one incident. The fires both started on the east side of I-15 and south of Cleghorn Road. The southern smaller fire was fully contained Saturday evening. The northern fire burned rapidly northeast and crossed Cleghorn Road 2N47. Fire crews did a great job holding that fire to 110 acres. Today crews are working on containment lines on the northern larger fire. It is now 100% contained.
Northbound I-15 was closed for approximately two hours on the evening of the 17th, causing traffic to back up to the 210 Freeway. Today all lanes were re-opened.
Hwy 138 was also temporarily closed Saturday evening, but has been re-opened. Two businesses at the intersection of I-15 and Hwy 138 (McDonalds and Chevron) were evacuated Saturday evening, but have since re-opened.
Cleghorn Rd, Old Cajon Blvd (Route 66), and Lost Lake Day Use Area have all been re-opened.
