Incident Overview

The eleventh annual AWIMA is currently in progress at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, AZ., Saturday, March 9 thru Friday, March 15. The Arizona Wildfire Academy is a non-profit organization and is sponsored through the cooperative efforts of local, state and federal agencies. The academy's mission is "to develop professional and safe responses in the wildland environment by offering training and education that meets or exceeds the National Wildfire Coordinating Group Standards." Over 560 students are enrolled and participating in 40 different firefighting classes during the week.
