A vegetation fire started along northbound Interstate 15 between the Kenwood and Cleghorn exits on Sunday afternoon at 2:45pm. This area is locally known as Blue Cut. The fire was driven by winds gusting up to 15mph. Due to the rapid and aggressive response by the Forest Service, Cal Fire, and San Bernardino County Fire the forward progression of the fire was stopped along the southern ridge. One small spot in front of the main fire was also quickly suppressed. By 3:30pm a hose line was tied in around what was mapped as a 4 acre fire and by 4:30pm a containment line was established. Crews worked throughout the night monitoring and mopping up any remaining hot spots.
One northbound lane of Interstate 15 was closed at the onset of the fire but was reopened at 6:00pm.
