Incident Overview

The Cold Fire started at approximately 11:45 am in the Foothills above Montecito and is currently at 2 acres. The fire is burning in the old Coyote Fire area that burned in 1964. This area is inaccessible to vehicles. The fire is slope driven and with the help of 5 Helicopters, 2 Air Tankers and 1 Air Attack, retardant is now urrounding half of the fire's perimeter. Crews are currently hiking in to begin mop up and cut handline around the fire perimeter . as needed. The previously issued evacuation orders have been lifted, The Forest Service is in unified command with Santa Barbara Fire and Montecito Fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

5 Helicopters, 2 Air Tankers and an Air Attack are fighting the fire aggressively. Crews are currently hiking into the fire to commence constructing handline. There are currently 16 engines, 2 water tenders, 3 dozers, 5 helicopters, 2 air tankers and 12 air attack fighting the fire.
