Incident Overview
The Millie Fire began with a lightning strike Aug. 28 on the Gallatin National Forest, 20 miles south of Bozeman, Montana. On August 29, it made a four-mile run and grew to 8,300 acres. A local Type 3 Team did the inital attack on the fire and a Type 2 Incident Management Team assumed command of the fire August 30. The fire transitioned back to a local Type 3 Incident Management organization at 2000 hrs 9/14. 929, fire management has transitioned to a local Type 4 organization.
