Incident Overview
The Springs Fire is 100% contained.
Rehab and mop-up work continues while some fire crews are demobilized over the next couple days. Crews are repairing areas impacted by fire suppression activities. This includes repairing fence, replacing natural materials in areas cleared for safety zones and spreading rock and debris over dozer and hand lines in an effort to return the landscape back to its natural-state. Straw waddles are in place to prevent erosion.
A Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) team will evaluate the burned area to prevent possible effects on life, property, fish, wildlife, and critical natural and cultural resources. The BAER team will determine the need for treatment to stabilize burned federal land. For more information on BAER teams visit www.fs.fed.us/biology/watershed/burnedareas/background.
Please be cautious of fire crews and equipment still working in the area doing patrols and mop-up work. The public should be cautious of possible hazards in the fire area including damaged trees and rolling rocks.
