A marine layer of air spilled over the Cascades yesterday bringing increased winds in the fire area. Cooler temperature and higher humidity made fire activity somewhat less than in past days, as the thermal trough made its way to the east. A cold front is expected to pass over Badger Butte today, moderating temperature even more.

Badger Butte Fire crews will continue with mop-up and patrol for spot fires today. Mop-up standards set by the Warm Springs Fire Management will be met by end of shift today. A few pockets of heat are left on the interior of the fire in unburned islands of fuel. There remains a possibility for some interior spot fires with isolated torching of trees. Fire Operations personnel walked the line yesterday to inspect the mop-up and reported that containment lines were strong.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs Warm Springs Agency in cooperation with the Warm Springs Fire Management organization are managing the Trout Lake, Powerline, Razorback, West Hills and Seekseequa Fires. Crews will be in patrol status with incidental mop-up.

The High Cascades Complex wildfires, started by lightning on August 24, have burned an estimated 108,154 acres.

The Badger Butte Fire management will be turned back to the local unit at 6:00 A.M. Friday, September 16, 2011. This will be the last update from the Blue Mountain Incident Management Team.
