| Significant Events | A name change from Perkins Fire to Perkins Complex was made when the McPherson Fire was incorporated into the effort. The Perkins Complex is now 100% contained. The McPherson Fire was started by lightning yesterday afternoon. The McPherson is just west of the Perkins Fire perimeter, at McPherson Peak. The Rattlesnake Fire is approximately 15 miles northwest of the Perkins, 20 miles east of Santa Maria.McPherson and Rattlesnake Fires are both reported to be within the San Rafael Wilderness. Access to both fires is difficult due to their locations within wilderness areas. Dry lightning storms are predicted for tomorrow. Due to the potential for lightning and thunderstorms, a second Type 1 Management Team is staged in Santa Maria to respond to new starts. |
