Approximate Location
Incident Overview
The Stewart Fire, a lightning caused fire, was detected on August 24. The fire is being managed to improve vegetation diversity and wildlife habitat. The fire's growth has been mainly to the North and East and is mapped at 4211 acres.
Moisture has finally arrived in the fire area. Occasional smoke may still be observed until more moisture accumulates on the area.
Fire area hazards that still pose a risk to the public include falling snags or trees, rolling rocks and debris, and burned out stumps. When traveling in or near the fire area use extreme caution.
The area closure will be rescinded in the next few days, however, a three mile segment of O'Dell Mtn. Trail #3010, from the center of Section 11 to the center of Section 18, will remain closed until crews can remove downed trees.
PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL CAMPFIRES ARE COMPLETELY EXTINGUISHED.
