The Type 3 Team firefighters will continue with mop-up operations today. The fire is expected to be 100% contained by tomorrow and transfer command over to the Camino Real Ranger District resources at 4:00 p.m.
Weather predictions for the fire area today call for temperatures of 70-75 degrees, relative humidities 6-10 percent, winds at 9-14 mph and 0% chance of precipitation.
The forest area closures along NM Highway 518 from forest road 437(Rio Chiquito) to forest road 76 (La Junta Canyon) will be lifted by the weekend with the exception of the Tio Maes Trail and forest road 703 to Amole Canyon. This area will remain closed while district firefighters continue to monitor the fire and conduct rehabilitation activities.
