The Smith Run Fire in Shenandoah National Park is now contained. The closures associated with the fire have been lifted.

There were no accidents or injuries during the fire which began on private property just west of the park and moved quickly up the mountainside on Saturday, February 19. Local media on both sides of the park have followed up their coverage with stories on homeowner preparedness and firewise practices.
