Incident Overview
The 42 acre fire was discovered by a member of the public on Thursday, Nov. 5. The work of the fire crews and a Grand Canyon National Park helicopter managed to contain the fire 100% Thursday evening. Three Forest Service engines, on Sherwood Forest Estate Fire District Water Tender and one Arizona Forestry Fire Crew worked to mop up the fire Friday, Nov. 6. The fire will continue to be monitored over the weekend by Forest Service personnel. Forest Service investigators have determined that the fire was caused by an abandoned campfire.
