The lightning-caused Cross Fire was detected July 1. It is located about 18 miles southeast of Williams, Ariz., and is approximately 7,718 acres and 25% contained. The fire is not expected to grow under current wet conditions. The fire has met managers' expectations and objectives to provide for firefighter and public safety, manage smoke production, reduce hazardous fuel accumulation, and return fire to a fire-dependent ecosystem.
