The Grouse Fire in Yosemite National Park is approximately 3044 acres. It is located south of Yosemite Valley and north of Glacier Point Rd. Ninety-seven percent of the fire is contained, and 95 perscent of the fire is mopped-up The objectives include restoring fire dependent forest systems, reducing hazardous fuels accumulation, managing smoke production, protecting wildlife habitat and preserving cultural and natural resources. Please expect brief road delays along Wawona Road, (Hwy 41). Light smoke may persist. All park facilities are open.

In the next few weeks studies and observations of the fire effects will continue by fire officials, fire ecologists, resource advisors, and other specialists, to evaluate the forest restoration processes of this fire. The fire, within the 1990 Steamboat fire perimeter, adds 3047 acres of significant defensible space for Yoemite Valley and the community of Yosemite West.
