Incident Overview

The Rattle Ridge Fire is being managed for natural resource benefit and continues to burn with low intensity within the confinement boundary. Fire size has grown to 403 acres and appears to be providing excellent resource benefits. Crews are conducting mop operations along the north and east boundary of the fire. Smoke is expected to be visible east of Interstate 17 and from the Verde Valley over the next several weeks.

Management resource objectives:

- Re-introducing fire in the ecosystem

- Allowing fire to reduce fuel accumulation

- Recycling on-site forest nutrients

- Increasing vegetative productivity

- Improving wildlife habitat and forage
