Incident Overview

The San Bernardino National Forest experienced over 24 lightning related fires, including at least 5 fires in the San Gorgonio Wilderness.

Aircraft will be flying over the forest for the next several days to monitor fire activity.

A lighting storm passed over the San Bernardino National Forest sparking several fires stretching from Rancho Cucamonga to Valle Vista (San Jacinto Mountains). The largest fire was the McKinley Fire that started shortly after 9am and burned approx 150 acres just north of Highland and east of SR 330. The second largest fire was the Peak Fire located in the San Gorgonio Wilderness and burned approx 20 acres at 9000 feet elevation and could been seen for miles.
