Incident Overview

The Hidden Fire started from a lightning strike on Wednesday, September 10th at approximately 6:24 PM, in the Sequoia National Park, 12 miles north of the community of Three Rivers. Initial assessment and attack began immediately, and on September 16, 2008, management of the fire was transferred to Southern California Interagency Incident Management Team 1. The Fire was then returned to the National Park Service under the IC of a smaller Team on Wednesday, September 24, 2008. To date the Hidden Fire has consumed 3,637 acres and is 96% contained. Estimated full containment of this fire is September 30, 2008. Once the fire area fully burns out the remaining fuels inside the lines, the final acreage should come close to 3,688 acres. Presently fire behavior is low to moderate and rate of spread is overall slow. This will be the last summary given for the Hidden Fire.

Fire Behavior

In the interior of the burn area smoldering continues with minimal activity. With the cooler temperatures, and higher relative humiditys that have arrived, The Hidden fire will be allowed to burn itself out.

Significant Events

The Hidden Fire is 100% contained. Fire fighters have completed mop-up operations, and the rehabilitation of containment lines affected by fire supression activity.
