Incident Overview

The PCT re-route around the Rich/Belden Fires closures is in very poor condition. There are numerous dead and downed trees about 2 miles up the Indian Springs trail (from the trailhead on Hwy 70 across from Belden), and the trail is virtually impassable. An option for PCT hikers would be to catch the Plumas Transit bus in Quincy to Chester, and pick up the trail there. Please Visit the Pacific Crest Trail website for more information.

Fire Behavior

No spread. Fuels within interior islands continue to be consumed and occasional smoke columns may be visible.

Significant Events

Crews continue with rehab and mopup on the northeast side of the fire. The Rush Creek and Virgilia Roads are open only to residents. Caribou road and adjacent campgrounds on the north fork are open to public use. Preveous closures are lifted with exception of fire area within and including perimeter.

Planned Actions

Firefighters will continue patrol of the entire fire area. Suppression rehab is nearing completion. 75% of the fire is in patrol status only.

The fire was contained at 6:00 pm Saturday, August 9th.. The Rich Fire (temporary flight restriction (TFR) was lifted on August 9th.
