Incident Overview

The fire did not grow today. Crews are busy mopping up. One infrared heat sensitive devices called "Thermovision" will be used to detect hot spots so they can be extinguished. Crews are currently mopping up 300 to 400 feet inside the fire perimeter and around structures.

The fire has a firebreak around it, and containment is at 90%. Significant numbers of resources will be released today and Thursday morning. After Thursday, A Major Incident Support Team (MIST), with approximately 170 personnel will continue to patrol and perform rehabilitation work on fire trails. The MIST team is a type 3 organization designed for smaller incidents, or used to finish out larger incidents. The containment will remain at 90% as long as the MIST team is working on the fire and structures are still threatened.

The evacuation order for residences in the fire area was lifted at 0600 this morning. Washington State Incident Management Team 3 assumed command of this fire on Friday, July 11th. This has allowed local emergency services personnel to return to their normal duties.

A cause for the fire was released Saturday, July 12th. It was a recreational fire that held embers for several days. The high winds on Thursday caused it to escape. It is still under investigation.

The incident command post is located at the Horizon Middle School at 40th and Pines.

Weather: Max Temp: around 83, Min Humidity 22%. Winds 5-11 mph increasing in the afternoon with gusts to 15 mph. Continued hot, dry and windy weather into the week. Fire conditions are critical. Please be careful with anything that could ignite a wildfire.

Good progress made by crews with meeting 200 foot mop up around perimeter and 300 feet around structures today. Night crew mop up and thermovision continues to be effective.

Planned Actions

Night Shift tonight until 2400 hrs. Continue theromovision and mop up around structures and perimeter. The type 3 team will take command of this fire for dayshift 7/17. Operation forces will consist of nine 10 person inmate crews, 2 type 6 engine strike teams, 1 tender, 2 thermovision operators,2 Division sup and 2 TFL's.
