Summary

Mountainair, NM - June 24, 2008 8 pm: The Big Spring Fire was reported by the Capilla Peak Lookout at approximately 8am. Crews responded to the area when at approximately 12pm the fire gained in strength. By 4 pm the Big Spring Fire had forced the evacuation of the Inlow Baptist Youth Camp as well as residents of FR 55 on the North side of the loop road. The Big Spring Fire was caused by a lightning strike.
