Summary
The "22" Wildland Fire Use fire is progressing according to the plan fire managers implemented May 6. The fire is burning in a fairly open ponderosa pine stand interspersed with meadows. Roads and previously burned areas to the north, east and west are being utilized to limit growth. The desired management area for this event is 1200 acres; it is now 812 acres in size. This area is benefitting from a primarily low surface fire that is reducing hazardous fuels, enhancing wildlife habitat and improving forest health. Fire managers will continue to manage this fire as long as resource objectives are met.
