Fire Behavior

Initially, extreme conditions prevailed due to high winds and low humidities. Fire made steady progress in the direction of the wind.

Significant Events

The evacuation of 500 homes were ordered upon initial assessment of fire behavior and direction. All schools, elementary through high school, in the affected area, were evacutated and the students bused to other schools out of the danger area. Crews made good progress towards containment of the fire.
