NEW INFORMATION:
Beginning at 6:00pm on Thursday, February 14 until further notice, Broad Run Road is closed from the intersection with Wildlife Road to the Craig/Botetourt County line for fire rehabilitation activities.
The Little Cuba fire started on February 10, 2008 as the result of a windthrown tree toppling a power line at its crossing with Lick Creek Road. The fire is burning primarily on National Forest lands, although it has burned onto some private lands. The Jefferson National Forest initially responded to the fire. Management of the fire was turned over to the Southern Area Type 2 Incident Managent Team, led by Tony Wilder, at 0800 on Tuesday, February 12.
Management of the fire was turned back over to the Forest as of 0900 on Saturday, February 16th. The fire was declared to be under control on Monday February 18.
