Summary

This fire has burned 197,990 acres and is 100 percent contained. Full containment October 31. The Witch Fire has joined the Poomacha fire in the north. Evacuations are lifted. 1,125 homes and 499 outbuildings have been destroyed. 77 homes and 25 outbuildings have been damaged. Additionally, 239 vehicles have been destroyed.

1,271 firefighters are assigned to this incident under unified command. There have been 40 injuries to firefighters, and two civilian fatalities reported. The estimated cost of this fire to date is $16 million. Witch Fire Information Line (619) 590-3160.

Significant Events

Fire containment achieved at 1800 hours on 10/31/07. Damage assessment and Fireline suppression repair are on going. Demobilization of excess resources is continuing.

Remarks

CAL FIRE ICT #10 (Kerschen) remains in Unified Command with USFS (Marinelli). Base Camp is established at Kit Carson Park (Kit Carson & Bear Valley Parkway, Escondido). The incident is under Area Command Team #1 (Waterbury).
