On August 14 the fire was reported to be 125 acres, growing to 940 acres by the following week. The fire made a run to the west and southeast due to gusty winds during the last few days to reach its current size. There is concern for the Rush Creek Lookout and Monumental Ranch if the fire makes another run. Currently torching single trees, the fire is smoldering and creeping through grass and the forest understory. The fire is being managed for resource benefit with no personnel assigned on the ground. Periodic over flights are being conducted and the fire is being closely monitored. The Cabin Creek and Rush Creek wilderness fires have not grown. The fire, sparked by lightning on August 30, has now burned over 20,623 acres and is 30% contained. Yesterday, the fire continued to burn to the northeast, reaching the base of Council Mountain, Bucks Basin and the Crystal Creek drainage. The eastern flank of the fire crossed the Middle Fork Weiser River Road approximately one half mile south of Big Creek and moved to the north following the road. Fire growth was influenced by high winds and low relative humidity. Today, crews will patrol and mop up along the west flank of the Sheep Creek and Warm Springs drainages. Firefighters will build and improve line along the eastern perimeter of the fire near the Middle Fork of the Weiser River. Numerous structures in Middle Fork of the Weiser, Fall Creek and Cottonwood Creek remain threatened. The Raines fire has finally joined the Zena Loon fire and there was significant activity in Secesh, Krassel and South Fork. There is a Red Flag warning for the fire area again today for potential lightning strikes in very dry fuels. In addition, a significant wind change is expected in the afternoon, which could push the fire to the south. A new Type 1 team will be taking over the fire this evening at 8:00 pm and will spend today shadowing the NIMO team to learn about the fire and the area.Early Monday afternoon, the fire crossed the Warren Wagon road to the north and spotted significantly around cabins in the Flat Creek area. Firefighters worked late into the night protecting those cabins and trying to keep the Warren Wagon Road open between Secesh and Burgdorf. No structures were lost. There were hard closures of the road throughout the afternoon and evening due to falling..."

"Krassel Fire Use Update, 3 Sept.
