Factors such as current and predicted weather, the amount of dead trees and brush fire, fuel moisture conditions, the level of fire activity in the region and nationally, and availability of fire suppression resources are used to determine the approriate level of Forest use restrictions . Changes the public should be aware of in moving to EXTREME include: Corral Canyon and Wildomar OHV Areas will close; the Descanso Ranger District will close all National Forest land south of Interstate 8, as well as Pine Mountain Road, and Fred Canyon Road, north of Interstate 8; and Orosco Ridge Road on the Palomar Ranger District will also be closed. The fire quickly grew to over 1000 acres due to extremely dry brush and strong winds. Firefighters on the ground and in the air made an aggressive attack, slowing the fires spread and protecting the community.
