The new team&#39;s base of operations is at the Wild Rivers Ranger District office. The Horse Mountain Fire was declared contained on Sunday evening, August 31. Fire managers made the declaration based on the current condition of the fire and the number of fire fighters continuing to work on the fire. Firefighters are continuing mop-up and rehab on the 1,062-acre fire. The rehab efforts include repairing roads and installing erosion mitigation (waterbars, grading, mulching and seeding).
