Forest Road 227 is now closed from Featherville to Big Smoky junction. Forest Road 012 is closed above Big Smoky junction into the Upper South Fork Boise River residential area. Private property owners can still access the area. The expanded closure includes Trail 070 along Paradise Creek and all trails to the west. These roads and trails lead into the area with ongoing fire activity. An area closure is necessary to provide for public safety and protection from hazards associated with the fire. These routes will remain closed until they are determined to be safe for public travel. Contact the fire information office or the Fairfield Ranger District for more specific details about the area closure and other areas that remain open for weekend recreation. The weather service has issued a Red Flag Warning, predicting a significant wind event lasting through Saturday evening, August 30, 2008. The Forest Service is expanding the area closure of the South Barker Wildland Fire Use incident east to include the Paradise Creek Trail and Fleck Summit. The closure boundary includes the South Fork of Boise River Road (FS #227) from Featherville to Big Smoky and Fleck Summit Road (FS #012). The northern boundary of the closure remains the ridge above the Bear Creek Road (FS #080).
