Firefighters have been hard at work mopping up, rehabilitating fireline, and patrolling the fire perimeter. The perimeter of the fire has not changed, but the approximate acreage of the fire increased from 3,000 acres to 4,040 acres. This correction is due to more accurate mapping, not an increase in fire size. A local Type 3 Team will assume command of the incident at 6 am on Thursday, August 14, 2008. "I appreciate the professionalism and quick work of the Team, especially their cooperation with local experts. I am also thankful to everyone for being so safety-conscious and am pleased by the excellent safety record on the incident" says Joan Suther, Field Manager, Three Rivers Resource Area, Burns District Bureau of Land Management (BLM). On Monday crews worked on the east, north, and west, mopping up to 300 feet within the perimeter. Back hauling of equipment will start in the south and southeast on Tuesday. In the Lake Creek drainage, crews completed construction of handline. Crews and other resources continue to be demobilized as fire containment increases. Air operations released the Sky Crane, a 'heavy' helicopter, which is needed on other priority fire incidents. "As dry as it's been the last week, along with weather events of the last two days, there's good confidence any additional fire growth or increase in fire activity is almost..."

"Fire Update for Monday, August 11, 2008 (Silvies River Wildland Fire)"

"Silvies River Fire UpdateMonday, August 11, 2008 9:00 am Fire Information (541) 573 7600 Hours: 7:00 am - 9:00 pmsilvies.river.fire@gmail.com www.inciweb.org The new fire information number is 541.573.7600.
