The Reno Fire Department sent five structure engines as a precaution.Afternoon winds made it difficult for crews to establish fire lines, according to a news release from the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center. The fire was moving downhill from the lightning strike site in the Seven Lakes Mountains to the northeast in Dry Valley.Fire information officer Mark Struble with the Bureau of Land Management said the hope was that winds would die down in the evening as temperatures cooled.
