Containment remains at 65%. A thunder cell passed over the fire area last evening, resulting in strong downdraft winds. One spot, 1/2 acre in size, was reported outside the perimeter on the southern end. Crews quickly contained the spot and monitored the area. Interior pockets of fuel continue to smolder. The closure extends from the Whiskey Gulch trailhead to a point just north of Interstate 90. Users of the Pipestone OHV area will be unable to travel south under the Interstate to access the Whiskey Gulch Trailhead. About 40 firefighters are battling the fire which is being fueled by dry grass, sagebrush, trees and dead and down trees. As a safety precaution fire managers closed the Pipestone Hot Springs road between state highway #2 and Interstate 90 to prevent curious motorists from getting too close to the fire. Also, a temporary flight restriction zone is being enforced while fire aircraft drop water and retardant. Jefferson County Sheriff&#39;s Deputies responded quickly after receiving a 911 call about noon Saturday, and immediately began evacuating people close or near the wildfire. There is no official estimate of the number of people forced from their homes.The fire is still active, moving and growing. As of 3:30 p.m. the fire had consumed 50-60 acres and is moving in a northeast direction up Whiskey Gulch towards I-90. Multiple agencies are involved in the initial attack.
