This Order is effective from August 27th, 2008, until the Canyon Complex Fire is fully suppressed.  Going into or being upon National Forest System lands within the Canyon Complex Fire Closure Area. The Canyon Complex Fire Closure Area is described below and shown on Exhibit A. 36 CFR 261.52(e). The fires caused damage to trail structures, including the bridge to the overlook, and to trees that have already fallen and others that may fall across the trail, posing hazards. A thorough assessment of damage is taking place and restoration efforts will begin soon. A closure notice has been placed at the Feather Falls access road located just off Lumpkin Road about 1/2 mile west of the town of Feather Falls. Other closures remain in affect for Bald Rock Dome Trail, Hanson&#39;s Bar, Hartman Bar, Milsap Bar, Hunter&#39;s Ravine and Kennedy Butte trails (Forest order #12-08).Visitors traveling in the Plumas NF are advised to use caution by staying on established roads and to be alert to emergency vehicle traffic. Interior burning continues to put up occasional smoke plumes from the Canyon Complex. Several of these smoke plumes continue to concern residents. Mop up of all smokes within 300 feet of the burned perimeter has been completed as of today. Crews will begin systematic patrol of this complex today.The Pacific Crest Trail is now open from State highway 70 South through the Bucks Area Wilderness to LaPorte Road. Each was a special person, important to others. Yesterday, in remembrance of these fallen brothers and sisters, the firefighters working the Canyon Complex set out to "finish the shift." On a list of the names posted at the morning briefing, firefighters signed their names beside those of the fallen, dedicating their day&#39;s work to the memory of that firefighter. In some cases, it was personal, the deceased firefighter being a friend or crew member. In others, the deceased was unknown. It didn&#39;t matter. They were all family. It is easy to wear a remembrance ribbon. Giving a name to the memory makes it personal. The area had been closed as a result of fires that were sparked by a lightning storm on June 21 which became the Canyon Complex. Additionally, the Cold Fire closure has been lifted. The closure encompassed the fire area west of Spring Garden, Sloat, Cromberg, south of the Quincy-LaPorte Road, and east of Nelson Creek. Visitors traveling in the area are advised to use caution by staying on established roads and to be alert to emergency vehicle traffic.The Forest has lifted the closure, Forest Order #06-08, in the Cold Fire area and the Bucks Lake Wilderness, known on previous maps as Closure Area #3 and #2 respectively, effective today. The Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) remains closed from Belden north (Hwy 70) (Forest Order #10-08) to the Plumas-Lassen National Forests boundary.Other areas affected by the fires will remain closed until further notice.
