The fires started during a lightning storm on June 20, 2008. By July 7, 2008, thirty-two fires were 100 percent contained. The complex was 90 percent contained due to three fires in the wilderness area without confirmed locations that are uncontained. Firefighters estimate the complex will be contained by July 10, 2008. Monday, the Alaska Type 3 Team began transitioning with Incident Commander Tom Liba. The Team will support and assist the incident in closing out the fires. Local personnel have worked tirelessly to secure the multiple fires on the District and have made excellent progress. Today a Red Flag Warning has been issued for high temperatures, low relative humidity, and strong winds which will test existing control lines. Crews will continue mopping up and patrolling these contained fires. Liba expects the fires will be controlled by the end of next week. There are 384 personnel assigned to the complex. Mad Complex - 3,705 acres. Total acreage for the Complex increased due to more accurate mapping of the Bonanza Fire. Bonanza Fire -1370 acres and 100% contained. Waterspout Fire -137 acres and 100% contained Travis Fires -1,700 acres and 100 contained.Lost Creek Fire - 50 acres and 100% contained.Closures Until further notice, some areas, roads and trails are closed due to the fires or fire fighting activities. Ann Garland, District Ranger Lower Trinity, has announced the closure of the South Fork Trinity road (Forest Service Road 5N03) and South Fork trailhead along with the associated trail (6E23). The closure begins at the end of County Road 447. Reminder - With the 4th of July holiday approaching, please remember that fireworks are prohibited on National Forest System Lands, as well as in National and State Parks.Hells Half Complex Northern Rockies Interagency Type 2 Incident Management Team Jess Secrest, Incident Commander.
